It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s that time of year again, Christmas is just around the corner and the anticipation of the holiday of love grows with each passing day. In the birthplace of the Advent wreath, Christmas is associated with great tradition and there is hardly anywhere a better place to get in the spirit than at Hamburg’s many beautiful Christmas markets. The Historic Christmas Market at the Town Hall
You can experience a real classic among Christmas markets between 27 November and 23 December. Under this year’s motto “Art instead of commerce”, the eighty stalls of the iconic market hosted by Roncalli run entirely on green electricity and without the use of plastic packaging – very much in the spirit of thoughtfulness.
P.S.: always keep an eye on the sky, because three times a day Santa Claus flies over the square with his reindeers.
Crazy Christmas – a different kind of Christmas Market
If you are looking for a bit of a change from the classic Christmas traditions in the period before Christmas, the Santa Pauli Christmas market is just right for you! Because the Kiez remains true to itself. At Spielbudenplatz, one thing is certain: alongside mulled wine and roasted almonds, you are guaranteed a unique Christmas market experience.
The Floating Christmas Tree
Another highlight that you should not miss is the floating Christmas tree. The 15-metre high Alster Fir Tree has been illuminating the Binnenalster around Christmas time for more than 20 years now. Equipped with more than 1000 LED lights, it floats firmly anchored on a plateau in place of the Alster fountain, creating maximum Christmas spirit on the Jungfernstieg.
