We love dogs. After a long and stressful day at work, it can be very relaxing to come home and be greeted by your dog with its cold snout. That’s what we call “cuteness overload”! Our loyal companions help us to feel comfortable and protected wherever we go. This is one of the reasons why HAVENS LIVING is so dog friendly: we want our QUARTIER 040 to be a place where you feel at home and don’t miss a thing. That’s why we have a few tips that may be helpful when you’re planning to move to Hamburg with your dog.

Hamburg’s dog register

Germany is known as the country of laws and regulations – you not only need to register yourself, but also your dog. You can do this at the Kundenzentrum Altona (customer service centre) or online via the Serviceportal of the online portal of the city of Hamburg. Our tip: with an online registration, you’ll save 20 euro. You need your identity card or a passport with a confirmation of registration, the microchip number of your dog, a proof of pet liability insurance from your insurance company, the name of the breed, the size, sex and date of birth of your dog. The registration in the dog register is also the registration for the dog tax, which is in general 90 euro per year in Hamburg and mandatory.

Paradise for dogs

But there are not only formalities, but also many great places where you can take your four-legged friend. At the dog walking areas your dog can romp and play off-leash. This is something that makes every dog owner happy! In Altona alone, there are twenty dog parks. As you can see, Hamburg has much to offer.

The important thing is that you always take a dog-waste bag when you walk your dog, since we all want to live in a clean and nice environment, right? You can get the dog-waste bags for free in all Budnikowsky stores in Hamburg, at the recycling yards of the Stadtreinigung Hamburg, from the pavement cleaning employees of the Stadtreinigung Hamburg and from the association “Kümmerer” in some districts. In short, you can get a dog-waste bag in many places near your HAVENS LIVING apartment.

Once you’re done with your to-do list, you can put your feet (and paws) up and relax. We hope you and your four-legged friend will have a lot of fun discovering the city. And in case you were wondering: cat owners are equally welcome at our QUARTIER 040 by HAVENS LIVING!
