You want to meet cool locals, go shopping in hip shops, rummage, drink coffee or enjoy a nightcap? That’s the right place to go! Whether in a bar at Schulterblatt Street (the heart of the quarter), a restaurant at Susannenstraße or in Schanzenpark.

The latter is by the way a great place for joggers or dog owners. Sternschanzenpark, or just Schanzenpark, covers around twelve hectares and is situated in the northeast of the quarter. The name of the quarter (Sternschanze) originates from a fortification (sconce, German: Schanze) formed like a star (German: Stern) which existed on the grounds of Sternschanzenpark until 1866. This beautiful park serves as a local recreational area. You can not only go for a walk or a run here, but also find a nice spot for a barbecue in summer or go sledding in winter. There are even fixed boules lanes in the north of the park.

If you want to know what’s on in Hamburg, we really recommend the websites “Mit Vergnügen Hamburg” and “Geheimtipp Hamburg”. At “Mit Vergnügen Hamburg” we find out that the “Schanze” offers everything you need to have a good time: kiosks, restaurants, bars, and small shops as far as the eye can see. With so many options, it’s not always easy to choose. One tip is the restaurant of TV chef Tim Mälzer: die Bullerei. It has a stylish industrial look and offers a variety of regional dishes as well as great drinks, such as the Bullen Cosmo!
